What is it?
Adult Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) clinics are swim lessons for adult (18+) non-swimmers. Certified instructors will work with one or two adults for four weeks 40-minutes per session. Instructors will work with individuals who are fearful of the water. Participants will start lessons in the shallow end of the pool and proceed at their own pace.
When is it?
Each clinic includes four sessions that will take place on Saturdays starting April 21st. Each 40-minute session will take place between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Click the button below to go to the the event calendar where you can check availability and register for clinics.

Please plan to arrive at the pool 20 minutes prior to the start of your session to change clothes and check in.
Is there a cost?
Each clinic costs $20 which covers all 4 lessons. Each participant will recieve a free pair of goggles and a swim cap.
Where are the clinics held?
All clinics will be held at the Sylvania Schools Natatorium, located on the Sylvania Northview High School campus.

Please note that while the pool deck is handicap accessible the pool does not have a lift. Participants must be able to enter and exit the water using a pool ladder.
What do I need to bring?
Print, complete, and sign the USMS 30-day Trial Membership Application. You will need to bring this to your first session.
Karen - Karen thoroughly enjoys helping adults overcome their fear of water by teaching them skills to be safe and in control. She has observed how the progression of skills taught during these lessons can help virtually anyone learn basic swimming skills, even to the point of enjoyment!
Jim - Jim has been a lifelong professional coach and teacher. A professional tennis coach for many years, Jim returned to his love of swimming to pick up where he left off in college. He is an avid swimmer and swim coach. He currently assistant coaches at Sylvania Northview High School and helps to run clinics throughout the region on behalf of United States Masters Swimming.
Val - Val grew up enjoying the water on a swim team, at her cottage, and working at a camp. Now she is anxious to help others share her passion for the water and become comfortable and safe at a pool or lake setting.
Andy - Andy has been coaching the Sylvania Masters Swim Club since he first started coaching, 23 years ago! He got involved in the Adult-Learn-To-Swim program because he believes in serving the community in ways that improve the quality of life. It is his intention to see that those who come out to learn will walk away with skill sets and confidence to take them to the next level of wherever they want to go!
