What is ALTS?
Adult Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) are swim lessons for adult (18+) non-swimmers. Certified instructors will work with one or two adults for an hour-long session. Instructors will work with individuals who are fearful of the water. Participants will start lessons in the shallow end of the pool and proceed at their own pace.
When are lessons offered?
Lesson times are coordinated with individual instructors.
What does it cost?
Lessons are $45 for 1 person for 1 hour. If two people wish to be taught together, each person is $30 for 1 hour. Each participant will receive a free pair of goggles and a swim cap.
Where are the lessons held?
Most lessons will be held at the Sylvania Schools Natatorium, located on the Sylvania Northview High School campus. However, if there is another pool available to either the instructor or the student, another location may also be used.
After taking lessons, it may be possible for an ALTS participant to join the swim practices of Sylvania Masters Swim Club. This will be determined by the instructor. An ALTS participant could join as a bridge swimmer, or as a full member. See ALTS Bridge Membership in a separate section for more details.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. There is no registration for these lessons through this website.
What do I need to bring?
Print, complete, and sign the USMS 30-day Trial Membership Application. You will need to bring this to your first session.
